EU emission regulations have forced the automotive industry to adopt lightweighting strategies through material selection and design. With this in mind, Joubert Group has developed a new type of parcel shelf that offers 30-40% weight savings compared with a standard parcel shelf. This lightweight textile parcel shelf is made with spring-steel wire and tension-elastic fabric.
The binding tape is sewn around the parcel shelf, and the lifting straps are directly sewn on the parcel shelf. This new parcel-shelf concept offers several advantages for the automotive industry: low weight; cost savings in manufacturing and tooling; and easy customization of the fabric and strap color, sewing color and top stitching.
